Sunk Into The Internet

At first, I think I should be honest that I haven’t totally understand this article, the biography of Blake Stone. I come from China; there may be a different point of view in love from that in Western world. Absolutely, there are a lot of internet users in my country and also a lot of people communicate with each other online. Of course, with communication, here comes love.

However, is a love on internet really reliable?
Is a love certainly unrealistic just because it’s based on internet?
I don’t know.
The only thing I know is that Blake Stone failed in his love online. Or we can say CanlendarGAL, SxyLdyAnne also failed. Then what on earth is the reason why they failed? I think there must be something we can figure out.

First, there is always a saying, do not judge a person according to his appearance. That’s true. However, when it comes to love, I don’t think it will also work. Just imagine, how many of you had a good feeling of your boyfriend or girlfriend just at the moment of seeing him or her at the first time? The answer is obvious. However, on the internet, especially in a common chat room, people always tend to not show their face because it will decrease their charm and their attraction. Here comes the problem, when you are communicating with some one called Sweet Honey. You are focusing your mind and thinking that the lovely Sweet Honey must be a pretty girl who has the same idea with you and you are almost going to fall in love with her. What if ‘she ’ is just an old man? Will you feel heartbroken or just lose yourself? Blake Stone is smart and some kind of fashionable, however, he is silent online, will anyone know that? He is just considered as a normal guy. Who knows such a silent boy has piercing slate-blue eyes like Harry Potter?

Meanwhile, if you are in love with an internet boy or girl, maybe you will spend more time and energy. It will be a habit to fix your eyesight on the screen and wait for the reply of every message you type on the keyboard on the computer or your cell phone. I have been to TCU for about 2 weeks and I found that a lot of people are in this kind of situation exactly, and I also sensed the same thing when I was in my country, this is interesting because people prefer to communicate with a cell phone than communicating with the people who are just sitting around them. After a simple greeting, they just go back to their IPHONE or laptop.
Just as the ‘Masquerade Ball’ in the story, even it sounds fantastic and interesting; it is still a white screen only will scrolling text. Is that really amusing? Maybe, even I don’t think so. Then why do this young people devote themselves into it?? From my point of view, they are just so bored in the real world.

Maybe Blake Stone sensed the same thing, so he didn’t show up regularly in the chat room even he joined it. However, he just joined it but did not enjoy it. That’s why he always sits silently in the chat room without a word. That’s another point.
Some people just do not want to devote all of their time to the internet activity, but they can only choose to do that because the peer pressure. For example, I have a friend in my high school, he never surf internet and he does not chat or use any software to communicate with his classmates or friends online, then he felt so lonely and cut out off from the whole world. Then I suggested him chatting online with someone with the internet. He did it and he felt good of it but I felt miserable. Is that so necessary that we can only connect ourselves to the world with cell phones and laptop? Just see how depressed Blake is when he finally found the truth and left the ‘Masquerade Ball’.

To be honest, I am definitely not an opponent against the internet, for myself I like to communicate with each other with it. However, I just want to write this article to say that internet should not be the only bridge between people and people. Though it is convenient, it is also unreliable in some way. I can be reassured if I know the guy or the girl in real world when I chat with him or her online, but I can’t do the same thing when I even don’t know if he and she is really ‘he and she’!! That’s what exactly I mean.

I think I have become a good rider on the bike, I can ride a bike without using my arms and my hands. When I was 14, I once did some shopping and I had to carry a big case of drinks and several plastic bags of snacks to go home by bike. It is too difficult for me, so I had to lift all the staff with my hands and I was not able to keep balance with my hands. At the moment, I sped up and found that I can keep balance only with my feet! It surprised me and afterwards, I began to practice doing the same thing on the way home from school. After about one week's practicing, I became accustomed to do that and then I can carry more things on a bike because I have two free hands! Maybe someone thinks that it is so dangerous to ride a bike on the road like this. However, from my point of view, if only you can keep balance , you can just do it!

in Class: Freewrite

Recently I have just come to realize a fact that writing things is not so difficult as I thought.
I used to think that we can not write anything or any idea without reading or getting to know anything about what we are going to write about.

However, the ahthor of the book The Curious Writer, Bruce Ballenger seems to have given me a good idea which is called write as inquiry. I can not quite understand what it does mean, but I tried this idea. Our professor in English writing class told us that we should not prepare before wrting. We should write to know the world?? It is totally different from what I used to accept!!

Using a blog? Reading a story? I do know nothing about that and I think I should write with some reasonable method. Actually, I failed. I came back to think that WRTING IN ENGLISH IS STILL A LITTLE DIFFICULT FOR ME~~~~~

Introduction of Shuai Yuan

My name is Shuai Yuan, I am from China. In Chinese my firstname means handsome and I like people call me 'Shuai'. I am a freshman in TCU and my major is business. This is the first time for me to come to the U.S. To be honest, I am not so accustomed to the life here. Yesterday was my firstday of class in TCU. The classes here are totally different from those in my country.

I decided to come to TCU because the business school here is fantastic. If I am the chancellor of TCU, I think I will arrange more shuttles and supply a electric map on compus for the students because TCU is really a big school!
On my point of view, a good teacher should be humorous and patient. If I have the chance to have dinner with anyone, maybe I will choose my grandfather to ask for some advice in studying abroad.

Even I am not so good at English now, I am still interested in talking in the class, because I think talking and wrting are two of the best ways to communicate with each other and share the ideas of different culture. I took this course mainly because I want to know how the western people write and how can I do a good job in my essays. I used to write e-mails or text message, but I rarely write an article or essay. So I would like to finish this class with an A in the end of the semister.

I have read some part of the syllabus(even I have not totally understood it) and I think there will be an obvious improvement in my English wrting.
