in Class free writing

You know the English writing class is always easy to catch up with, but the time for assignment seems always not enough for me. I will take a mid-term exam for History so what I should do mostly is to read the thick history book. However, here comes our new assignment of draft 2. So I have to spend the extra time (for me it means the time for sleeping.)to do this job. I have totally no idea how should I allocate the time. Oh, I hava a quiz in Microeconomics tomorrow!! Only God can save me.

in class free writing

What I am thinking about recently is that what to write about in essay 2.
As I know, essay 2 is a discovery research, which means I can not write about sth that I have known much about. Then I wanted to do some research in Chinese food, which is very interesting for me and for the reader. I also wanted to know more about the rings, because, for me, rings has been a big temptation to me since I was very young and it contains a lot of cultural charm in the human history. What's more, I also have great interest in some social psychological problems. There are a lot of things which make me confused to choose. In the end, I decided to choose the rings, which attracts me most.
However, if I can not find enough resources about it, I will maybe change my mind to start another topic.

Then what do I plan to write about?
I want to express my original feeling of rings when I was very young.
Then I want to introduce the culture of the rings: where are they from? what are they originally used for?when and where did they come into our daily life? why it become a symbol of some rites or the status, just like when people get married they should put on a ring or a pope should have a ring? how did I feel when I firstly put on a ring?
That's what I want to research

Nowadays, people tend to express themselves by what they appeared, a great part of "appear"
is what they look like, we are wearing different clothes, trousers and different jewelry. Some people get tattooed and some people prefer to leave the tag of the new clothes just on their back.
However, sometimes the people misusded them, especially the rings. Even this is a time to express personality, there is still misunderstanding.

My Thinking of Wrting A Discovery Essay (Rhetorical Response 2)

At first, I should say that I feel fortunate of having read these two essays before I begin my own essay 2. Obviously, these two essays are both discovery essays. The two articles have a lot in common which I should learn from.

When we first read an article, we always read its title first to see whether it is attractive or interesting. Also, it should leave some questions for the readers so that they will be happy to continue reading.
On seeing “Tattoo Crazy”, I learned that the author is going to tell us about something about the tattoo, then I could not help asking “Why is tattoo crazy?” That’s the question which led me to go on reading it.
Like Lori Gangi, Ellen Parker also did a good job in making a good name of his article, “We Proudly Brew Starbucks Coffee” is a common sentence in every Starbucks, however, readers will ask why the author use this sentence as its title.

Also, I learned that a good discovery essay should have a opening paragraph which contains the main material of the whole essay.
Lori Gangi’s “Tattoo Crazy” tells us about what he find and think about the current problem of tattoo or people get tattooed. Nevertheless, Ellen did a better job, he described the scene that he drank the coffee in the Starbucks with his father when he was very young. Ellen used a lot of details to tell the reader about the coffee, the dessert, and the feeling of drinking a hot coffee in the childhood. We can sense a lot from the description.

Both of the two authors told us the origin of what they were writing about. Lori Gangi at first told us that the tattoo came from Europe, and when the tattoo culture came to the U.S, it first landed on New York. He also described what kind of people got tattooed as a pioneer. Unlike Lori, Ellen told us when the phenomenon of Starbucks coffer began and how the Starbucks Company proceeded to become a big company which sells their coffer world wide. However, just telling something can not prove anything; the two of the authors also did a good job in telling things with statistics. Lori used the percentage of people who got tattooed and the percentage of people who were or likely to be prejudiced because their ink on their body to prove that it has been a big social problem about the discrimination of the tattooed people. Ellen also used the number of the Starbucks’ consumers to tell us that how popular the Starbucks coffee is amongst people. In my opinion, in a discovery essay, we maybe don’t have to prove something that we are not sure about. However, if there is something from the library or the internet that we didn’t know at first, maybe it is the best way to give some statistics to the readers.

A discovery essay needs resources and method. Maybe it is not necessary for us to express our own opinion of the problem because we do not know much about them. However, we still have a chance to share our feelings. I think to make a connection between the topic and us is the best way to make the readers feel touched.

When Lori was in high school, he thought that an individual with tattoo is more likely to be a bad person. I think it is just what some people think even in current society. Then, he found that to get tattooed is just a choice to express one’s personality and there is no certain connection between tattoo and bad people. In the end, Lori himself decided to get tattooed. The process of his change makes us think, just like him. Sometimes we learn a lot from books, internet and the professors, nevertheless, Lori had given us a good example telling that “Life is best teacher for everyone”

I think we should contain our personal feeling in our essay. That will make our article more impressive and moving. If you can not touch yourself, who else are you expecting to touch?

All of the above is what I think about the two essays in the reading packet, I hope that will help me with my second essay.

Class Wrting

According to the professor's speaking in class, I became totally lost, wondering how I did in essay 1 because it seems that we will have a long way to go and it is certainlly tough for us. I have never been in such a self doubt situation because I do never know what the standard of a good essay in the U.S is. However, I have read someone else's essays and I don't think I did a very bad job because everytime I can get some information from my own country, what makes my essay more creative. Recently my life was filled with everything about the classes, the essays, the quizes, the test we will take next week and i have a lot of things to read. History, microecnomics and also the enviromental science. I am so exhasted.

in Class: Freewrting 2

Let me talk about the first two weeks in TCU, it is interesting to have class in the morning, I am a night owl but also get up early, sometimes I can not understand the teacher's lecture but it is also amusing because the atomsphere is good for me. People disccuss and talk about all the things related to the topic or the conversation. However, I am not so accustomed to the assignment here because it is totally different from that in my country. In my country, I mean in high school, I usually get up at FIVE THIRTY and then ride to school. We have classes for about ELEVEN HOURS and after that we would have a self study lesson unitil NINE P.M!!!!!!
Can u ever believe that ??
I do think that you can never ever imagine what kind of life it is.
However, we can still find something interesing in this boring life even it is so tough for us student to go through. We fight together and have a fierce copetition between each other.
Everyone devoted all his or her time to studying, we don't have free time and who can save us??
JUST US.
